Photo Rights

The short version: the photos are yours. Roll is a camera, not a photo agency. This page says plainly what happens to a frame after it's shot.

Who owns a photo

The person who takes it. Guests keep the rights to the frames they shoot; the host receives a copy of every frame from their event, which is the reason the event exists.

What we can do with it

Only what's needed to run the service: store it, hold it until the reveal, and show it to the host — and to guests when the host allows it. That's the entire licence.

We never sell photos, license them to anyone, use them in marketing, or use them to train machine-learning models.

Who can see a photo

• Before the reveal: nobody — not the host, not us, not the guest who took it.
• After the reveal: the host, and the guests if the host chose to share the film.
• Never: anyone outside the event, unless someone chooses to share a frame themselves.

How long it lasts

Photos are kept for 12 months after the event, then permanently deleted. The host can save the entire developed film to their camera roll at any point before then.

Getting a photo removed

A host can hide any frame from their film, report it, or block the guest who took it. If you're a guest and want a frame of you removed, ask the host, or write to support@rollphotos.app and we will take it down.

Photographing people

Take photos of people only where you're allowed to, and never of someone who has said no. Party photos are for the party; treat the people in them the way you'd want to be treated.
